Sven Breugelmans, KTM factory rider for the JM Racing team celebrated his 28th birthday in style on Sunday with a double MX3 victory in Slovenia and an extension of his lead in the world championship standings.

Breugelmans won the holeshot in the first heat and remained in the lead for the entire race. In the second he came from behind local hero Saso Kragelj and whipped past him in the latter part of the race to take victory at the checkered flag. The Belgian is now 22 points clear of second placed rival Yves Demaria, who finished fifth on Sunday.

After heat and rain had dogged the riders in earlier races in the season, they enjoyed almost perfect weather on race day in Slovenia’s Orehova vas as well as a lively atmosphere from a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters.

With just three more races in the world championships, the race is now on for supremacy and the coveted MX3 title. Riders meet for the next round in Denmark on August 26.
